Although not quite at the identical stature as sparing Thanksgiving turkeys, but the mayor of Miami-Dade experienced a Donald Trump moment this week by ceremoniously saving the life of a pig named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava carried out the annual tradition at the Cuban-themed Latin Cafe 2000 in the center of Miami’s iconic Little Havana neighborhood.

“The swine has done no wrong. She is worthy of this pardon. No offenses are on her docket,” stated the mayor in a speech with obvious nods to the vast quantity of pardons issued since the onset of a second term in office.

“Except perhaps for eating six or seven apples per day,” Levine Cava continued. “I hope she experiences a lengthy and joyful existence free from concern.”

This ceremony, simultaneously observing and challenging the region’s Hispanic tradition of feasting on pork during the holidays, was established to replicate the yearly bird sparing at the White House.

The animal, provided by a first responder, was christened after the modern linguistic fad of young people yelling “six-seven” – inspired by a musical verse – often without clear purpose. The trend became so ubiquitous that a prominent word reference recently named “6-7” its annual vocabulary selection.

A Future Secured

This particular pig is now set to enjoy its days at a rural sanctuary “far from charcoal and roasting pans”, according to the event’s official press release.

“The annual pig pardon has become one of our favorite ways to begin the festive period,” said the event host, in a notably cheerful message.

“It represents the character of Miami: joyful, diverse, and based in heritage that bring people together. Every time, we are proud to celebrate heritage and mercy in a way only Miami can.”

Attendees enjoyed a vegetarian menu of spinach croquetas and strong coffee as they celebrated the swine's new lease on life.
