History of Incidents

Since the onset of the full-scale conflict in Ukraine, a string of Russian military commanders have been subjected to assaults within Moscow.

This latest event follows other high-profile incidents, for instance:

  • General Yaroslav Moskalik was killed in a car bomb attack in Moscow earlier this year.
  • General Igor Kirillov perished in late 2024 when a bomb hidden on a scooter was set off from a distance.

While a Ukrainian source in the past linked Kirillov's death to Ukraine's security service, such claims are not officially confirmed as a matter of standard practice.

The conflict has increasingly seen covert operations reaching into the center of the Russian capital.

The investigation into General Sarvarov's death continues to be active.
