🔗 Share this article Adult Swim's Leading Fresh Series of 2025 Gets a Significant Extension for Seasons 2 and 3. In October of last year, Adult Swim saw the return of its quirky hit, Smiling Friends. But, shortly thereafter, the network introduced a fresh animated series with a markedly softer vibe. Haha, You Clowns proved to be heartwarming and calm, in the spirit of a cartoon version of a laid-back talk show. At a time often defined by cynicism, this show's sincerity found an audience and turned it into a breakout hit. A Two-Season Greenlight On December 18th, Adult Swim revealed exciting news: Haha, You Clowns has been picked up for two additional seasons. This provides creator Joe Cappa a massive runway to expand upon the world of the Campbell family. The show focuses on three polite teenage brothers whose defining trait is their strong bond for their single father, with Cappa voicing for all four main characters. "I am incredibly thankful to the fans of the show who took a chance on the show and shared it with others," remarked Cappa. "I’m incredibly thrilled that I get to spend more time in the Campbell household for a little longer." Executive Acclaim Accompanying the news commendation from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who described the series as "profoundly sincere and oddly captivating." He specifically highlighted the fans who embraced the show and supported its uniquely offbeat sensibility. "All of you showed up for this new show, rooted for it on social media, and expanded its audience week over week so we could approve not one, but two more seasons," commented Ouweleen. "In the words: 'You are strong! You are loved!'" A Wholesome Alternative When it first aired, Haha, You Clowns was praised as "a gentle counterpart" to more cynical adult animated fare. Viewers found something unexpectedly cozy about watching this charming family navigate their daily lives. Previously, creator Joe Cappa shared his desire to move the comedy genre beyond its current cynical streak. He attributed this trend to a broader media landscape. “There's this level of irony that we are trapped in,” explained Cappa. “It's like we have to know we’re the smartest person in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for 10 years, and we just have to laugh at something different now. Comedy has to evolve.” What Comes Next Given this two-season order, with Haha, You Clowns locked in for the future, Cappa has the opportunity to help usher in that very evolution. At a minimum, the renewal ensures audiences more opportunities to bask in the heartfelt moments of the beloved Campbell clan. The first season's conclusion of Haha, You Clowns will premiere on December 21st. All episodes is ready to watch on HBO Max.
