Brian Eno Calls On Backing to Propel Together for Palestine Track to UK Festive Top Spot.

A fundraising initiative is aiming to propel a cultural melody to the Christmas number one spot. The project aims to deliver assistance to communities in Gaza while also showcasing Palestinian cultural expression.

A Chance for Unity and an "Surprise Victory"

Musician and artist Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the single 'Lullaby' represents a chance to show solidarity with Palestinians over the Christmas period. He noted the potential for an surprise number one.

“It would be fantastic if that came to pass, yes,” he said. “I won't be completely let down if it doesn't manage to, holiday tracks are a unique phenomenon.”

Powerful Theme of Freedom and Dignity

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who features in the reimagining of a cultural piece called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's defiant core message.

“It has a very special place for countless listeners,” Barghouti explained. “It’s basically saying that I would prefer a dignified death than live a life without freedom. That is the core idea of the song; we want to live a respectful existence that we merit as a people.”

Recording Origins and Star-Studded Lineup

The single was laid down after a large-scale benefit event held in September. Initially planned to be captured during the live event, the piece was cut from the show due to the event running long.

The notable list of performers featured on Lullaby includes a range of well-known figures from the scene. All participated in the benefit event, which reportedly raised a significant sum for humanitarian aid.

Production and Release

Lullaby was produced by a trio of talented individuals. The single features a fusion of the heritage language with freshly written English words.

The team running the initiative have clarified that their aim is to raise as much as possible for a specific fund. These proceeds will be allocated to initiatives supporting Palestinians through an established charity.

“We don’t have a fixed goal,” a figure commented. “We aim for whatever we can get. Of course, the greater the amount, the better. Every penny goes out to Gaza.”

The reality in the region was noted for its extreme devastation, with a huge proportion of infrastructure reportedly destroyed or damaged.

“Given that reality, a handful of millions won't make that much difference. But I think the significant factor is first of all raising awareness for this issue and showing the human dimension of the story.”

The track is launching this Friday. Additionally, a video of the benefit event will be made available for streaming on a popular streaming site from the 19th of December.
