British boxer Anthony Joshua Released from Hospital in Lagos Following Fatal Road Accident

Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, local government spokespeople confirmed on late Wednesday. The 36-year-old was caught in a vehicular crash outside Lagos on the 29th of December, a horrific crash that resulted in the deaths of two of his close associates.

Recovering from Minor Injuries

The boxer had been receiving medical attention while recovering from minor injuries, representatives stated earlier on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on X that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to continue his recovery at home.

“Joshua and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two deceased friends as they were being made ready for the journey back,” the commissioner stated.

Remembering the Victims

The victims of the crash were named as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. It was also noted that the athlete was heartbroken and deeply emotional over the passing of his two trusted companions.”

The news of his discharge follows the boxing community had expressed its support for the fighter in the wake of the heartbreaking incident.
