"We send our thoughts and our care for him as he goes through the situation."

The Trail Blazers additionally won their first game since the detentions, with Brazil-born Tiago Splitter stepping in as interim coach in Billups' absence and leading the squad to a decisive 139 to 119 win over the Warriors.

"Everyone experienced positive times with Billups and his coaching style," Splitter remarked. "We're thinking of him and his loved ones but we have a job to do."

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver 'Disturbed' over Arrests

Speaking about the detentions for the initial occasion, NBA commissioner Silver said he was "very upset" by the incidents of the past few days.

"There's nothing more important to the league and supporters than the fairness of the competition," he told Amazon Prime. "Therefore I felt uneasy. It was disturbing."

Silver also mentioned an NBA investigation into Rozier's conduct in March 2023, when there was "unusual wagering" in a game he participated for the Hornets versus the New Orleans Pelicans, found nothing untoward.

"We were informed by the regulators and the gambling firms," he continued.

"We then looked into that situation and were very transparent about it. Although there was the unusual wagering, we, frankly, found no evidence.

"The federal government has legal authority... [it] can impose penalties, can take various actions that the NBA is unable to.

"Therefore, we've been working with them since then. Naturally, what they revealed recently was an indictment.

"And 30 months later, he has not been found guilty of anything, in justice to Terry.

"Clearly, it doesn't look good, but he's been put on administrative leave, and so it is a compromise in this case between protecting people's rights and conducting an inquiry."
