Two men have been charged related to a suitcase robbery where a suspected irritant spray caused injuries at the major London air hub.

Tyrone Richards, 31, and Anton Clarke-Butcher, 24, have both been charged with two counts of robbery and two counts of using a harmful chemical, according to official statements.

The charges follow an probe of an assault at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 on Sunday. Earlier that day, two female travelers had their luggage taken after exiting a parking garage elevator, authorities reported.

A three-year-old girl was among those injured in the event. Five people went to hospital for treatment and were eventually allowed to go home.

The incident – described by police as was a standalone event and deemed non-terroristic – resulted in disruptions to rail services and the temporary blocking of the main airport road tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park for a limited duration.
